It’s a fun, sporty, reliable high performance compact sedan that you will get many enjoyable miles out of. But a Matrix XRS or Vibe GT would be more practical because of the roomy hatchback design :)

The 2ZZ is hilariously fun with its weird 6 speed transmission. Not exactly the greatest in fuel economy, but pushes you to crack out the revs to get that torque. 1st gen Corolla XRSs are rare but XRS Matrix is quite common.

The XRS you have as the lead pic used a Camry 4-cylinder. The previous-gen XRS is the one that came with the high-revving 2ZZ.

Wrong generation. We have the Vibe GT of this generation. It’s been faultless for 150k miles, and it is somewhat fun, in fact it’s what got me to get a hot hatch, but the engine isn’t special.
